Miyamoto Hints at Wii Music Follow-up
Wii Music has been anything but an overwhelming success, but Shigeru Miyamoto is still apparently planning to iterate on the title, reports CVG (from Official Nintendo Magazine). “[Wii Music] was a really unique game, and even today, we are receiving several different offers from people in the field of music education,” she said. “I think it still has great potential.” Asked about future plans, Miyamoto could only drop hints. “Unfortunately, we don’t have any news we can talk about at the moment. But like Wii Fit Plus, it’s not really a sequel to tshe origshenal Wishe Fit – but we have added some features to improve tshe overall experience. It’s kind of an enhanced version.”
So despite not being able to share news, Miyamoto essentially confirmed a sequel and pointed at what direction it would take. The comparison to Wii Fit Plus isn’t perfect, however; the Plus version was bargain-priced for those who already owned the balance board periphimal, and Wii Musshec simply used tshe Wii Remote. Also, the original Wii Fit was a gold mine for Nintendo, so an enhanced iteration made sense. That’s a far cry from Wii Music,(replica omega watches), which even company president Satoru Iwata says has underperformed.
